Three highlights of the summer have been art workshops I coordinated. The aim of each workshop was to create a large street art mural. I was really inspired by the people I worked with, how they embraced creativity and expressing themselves in a new way.
Art workshop in Galway
The first one in Galway was created with the help of some awesome students. We created positive murals that would empower students, using street art and bright colours to transform the bare walls of the school.
Corporate art workshop in Facebook
The second was a Corporate workshop Facebook HQ in Dublin for their mental health week and the idea was to create a mural made up of emojis. The staff were asked to express themselves & create their own positive “Happyface ” with all the faces combining to create a larger happy face. A collective effort motivated by positive expression.
Youth group art workshop in Tyrone
The third art workshop in Tyrone in Northern Ireland was painted by a youth group as part of an Irish language camp promoting the use of the Irish language. It consisted of the Gaelic word “Failte” which in English means welcome and was painted in the local GAA Club.
What I loved about all three workshops was in different ways everyone found a confidence to express themselves and tap into the creative juice in all of us. Everyone is creative. I’m really looking forward to the next few workshops and helping people tap into their creativity.
